The Invictus GDA
If you want to build muscle, you have to eat a lot. A calorie surplus is necessary to build muscle mass in the long term. It's simple physics. However, a calorie surplus in the cells can also cause our muscle cells' insulin sensitivity to decrease. Since insulin is necessary to transport nutrients into the cells, this means that the carbohydrates and amino acids we eat are less effective at getting to where we want them to go.
However, certain pharmacological measures to promote muscle growth also ensure that more energy is released into the bloodstream, which can reduce insulin sensitivity. Invictus GDA was developed with the intention of increasing cellular sensitivity to insulin and thus shifting the partitioning of nutrients back toward the muscle cells. The abbreviation GDA stands for "Glucose Disposal Agent."
What exactly is in it?
Berberine HCL - 250 mg
Meta-analyses and study reviews concluded that the available research indicates that berberine increases the insulin sensitivity of cells very effectively, even to a comparable extent to drugs developed for this purpose, such as metformin.
According to studies, both berberine and metformin activate the second messenger AMPK, which signals cells that they are lacking energy. This triggers an increase in glucose transporters to the cell surface, which then transport glucose from the blood into the cells.
In contrast to metformin, however, berberine has a significantly faster and shorter duration of action than the commonly prescribed type 2 diabetes medication.
Prickly pear extract - 150 mg
In parts of Mexico and South America, cacti are not only a natural part of the landscape but are also traditionally used as medicinal plants. The fruits and leaves of the prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus indica) have long been used to treat diabetes and high cholesterol.
A recent review of 20 studies reports that the totality of the collected data suggests that prickly pear extracts increase the body's release of insulin and thus promote the storage of glucose in the cells.
One of these studies was also conducted on young, healthy, physically active men and showed a 26% improvement in insulin sensitivity even after exercise.
Cinnulin PF® Cinnamon Extract - 150 mg
Even among the general public, cinnamon is considered not only a delicious spice but also a medicinal plant. However, the problem is that the inexpensive and delicious cassia cinnamon, in particular, contains higher levels of coumarin, which, at high doses, has caused liver and kidney damage in animal studies.
Meta-analyses suggest that cinnamon and cinnamon extracts may help lower fasting blood glucose levels in individuals with impaired insulin sensitivity.
Cinnulin PF® is a special extract that is particularly highly standardized for trimeric and tetrameric procyanidins, which are believed to be responsible for the beneficial properties of cinnamon. According to the manufacturer, it is a 20:1 extract, which means that the 150 mg used in Invictus GDA corresponds to a dosage of at least 3 g of cinnamon powder.
NA-R-Alpha Lipoic Acid - 100 mg
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a component of mitochondrial metabolism, which is responsible for energy production. It is therefore a natural substance synthesized by the human body.
Numerous studies have observed a positive effect of supplemental alpha lipoic acid on insulin levels and cellular insulin sensitivity. Regular alpha lipoic acid in supplements is usually a mixture of the S and R isomers. In isolation, the R form has shown better absorption rates in studies. When bound to sodium (Na), it also exhibits higher water solubility, which is why we chose the high-quality NA-R-ALA form.
Gymnema Sylvestre Extract - 100 mg
Gymnema sylvestre is a plant native to southern India and tropical Africa. It has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for various purported properties, including its effectiveness against diabetes and obesity.
In fact, studies have observed that taking the extract can increase insulin sensitivity as well as insulin production and secretion in the pancreas. At the same time, it has been observed that the extract has a protective effect on pancreatic beta cells against oxidative damage.
How should Invictus GDA be taken?
Depending on your personal insulin sensitivity and carbohydrate intake, we recommend taking 1-2 capsules of Invictus GDA before carbohydrate-rich meals with sufficient liquid.
